About Us
At Restoration Craft, we believe that a home should feel like it was always meant to be—a seamless blend of history, craftsmanship, and thoughtful design. Based in Baltimore, MD, we specialize in restoring, remodeling, and reimagining historic and vintage homes with careful attention to detail and architectural integrity. Whether we are preserving original features, reconstructing lost details, or designing entirely new elements, our goal is to create spaces that feel both timeless and deeply personal.
As licensed general contractors, we provide full project management, working closely with skilled subcontractors to handle every aspect of a project, from structural updates to the finest finishing touches. Whether restoring a home’s past or building new spaces that seamlessly blend with its history, we ensure the process is expertly managed from start to finish.
Reimagining Historic Spaces
Some homes come to us with their character intact, requiring only restoration. Others have been stripped of their original charm, their stories quieted. In these spaces, we don’t simply renovate—we reimagine. Through thoughtful interior design planning and execution, we create the depth, warmth, and beauty of a home that has grown gracefully over generations.
A well-crafted home is more than a shelter; it is a collection of moments, a place where history lingers in the details. It is built to be lived in, cared for, and eventually entrusted to the next hands that will call it their own. We design with this in mind—ensuring that every beam, molding, and fixture feels as though it has belonged from the very beginning. Whether restoring lost character, incorporating salvaged architectural pieces, or designing bespoke built-ins that appear as if they’ve always been there, our work is about more than aesthetics—it’s about creating a space that feels balanced, intentional, and deeply satisfying to inhabit.
Our Story
Restoration Craft is led by Chip and Lisa, a husband-and-wife team with a shared background in art, architecture, and design.
Chip studied Fine Art at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design and Architecture at City College of New York. He was the lead mold maker at the fine art foundry where he met Lisa and has worked as a fabricator for brass goods, lighting, and furniture design in Baltimore, MD, and Brooklyn, NY. He has since worked full-time as a carpenter and cabinetmaker. Lisa holds a Master’s in Sculpture from Cranbrook Academy of Art, has worked as a shop technician in the product design and foundation departments at Parsons The New School of Design in NYC, and has exhibited her work nationally while teaching 3D fabrication and interdisciplinary fine art at various universities since 2006.
Our passion for historic restoration began when we purchased our own live/work studio, originally built in 1850. Immersed in the architectural heritage of Baltimore’s Mount Vernon neighborhood, we became captivated by the craftsmanship and design motifs of the past. What started as a personal pursuit soon became a calling—to restore, reimagine, and craft homes that honor their history.
